On 24.08.2020, the training in wood carving started in Lalapasa held in the framework of implementation of the project “CRAFTS-Network for joint initiatives for their protection, promotion and transformation into tourist attractions”, (CB 005.2.23.022), financed by the Interreg-IPA cross-border programme Bulgaria – Turkey 2014 – 2020, was completed successfully on 28.08.2020.
The training took place within 30 training hours, in the period 24-28.08.2020, including in its program, theoretical knowledge and practical activities in which, those who applied for the course from Lalapasa, were trained.
In the course of the training, the trainees received practical knowledge on how to shape and carve out wood and how to create items from wood and the particulars of this craft. The training was provided by Mr. Halil Teksöz, a master Edirnekari practitioner and wood carver, who has regularly organised Edirnekari and wood carving trainings for diverse groups of trainees in Edirne.
The completed works of the participants in the course will be presented during the international exchange visits under the project in Lalapasa, Turkey and Yambol, Bulgaria, which are foreseen for the spring of 2020.
As a result of the training is expected to strengthen the interest in this craft and to turn its products into a tourist attraction.
Within the scope of the project, the trainings of goblen and embroidery and for ceramics and pottery were was conducted in the past months. This is the third and last training under the project.
